Conferred with the ‘Maharaja Hari Singh Award in Reforms and Planning’
JAMMU: The Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today emphasized that while the government plays a pivotal role in the development of the nation, it is essential for citizens to actively contribute to achieving the common goal of a prosperous and developed India.
His remarks were made during the felicitation ceremony of the ‘Maharaja Hari Singh Peace & Harmony Award,’ organized by news channel in Jammu.
his address, the Lieutenant Governor paid homage to Maharaja Hari Singh and highlighted the revolutionary reforms introduced by him that had a profound impact on the society and the development of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Maharaja Hari Singh Ji was a key architect of modern Jammu Kashmir. He also played a major role in shaping its destiny during a critical period in history and ensured the dream of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ becomes a reality,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
LG further observed that Maharaja Hari Singh Ji was unflinching in his concern for the poor and the disadvantaged, championing the cause of women empowerment, education, healthcare, and the upliftment of the marginalized. “His entire life was a great saga of courage and conviction for betterment of society,” he added.
He emphasized that it is the responsibility of people at the helm of affairs to ensure that different segments and sections of society have a stake in a developed India. “The prestigious Maharaja Hari Singh Awards are the recognition of the work done for promoting peace, inclusive development, achievements in different sectors, and fostering a sense of oneness between communities.”
“As India moves forward on the path of rapid economic growth, your work in literature, social services, sports, education, and business strengthens the fabric of our society. It is your duty to ensure that weaker sections of society and the empowerment of women are given top priority,” the Lieutenant Governor stated to the awardees.
Speaking on India’s emergence as an economic superpower, the Lieutenant Governor expressed confidence in the country’s future. “The progress we have achieved in the last ten years assures that the nation will certainly accomplish the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047.”
He further emphasized that the government alone cannot achieve its goals and that citizens need to work together to realize the vision of a developed nation. “It is true that despite all the differences, people share a common origin and a common destiny. I urge the people from all sections of society to lead India into a developed nation and become active partners in this development journey,” the Lieutenant Governor urged.
On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor was conferred with the ‘Maharaja Hari Singh Award in Reforms and Planning’. The event was attended by Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member of Parliament; Sham Lal Chaudhary, former Minister; Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; members of Gulistan News Network; senior officials; and prominent citizens from various fields.
