Party’s great endeavor to reiterate demand for restoration of Statehood, says  Karra

WAJAHAT SHABIR

KULGAM: J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Saturday kick-started the Party’s movement “Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq” to reiterate the Congress Party’s demand for the restoration of Statehood to J&K.

J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra presided over a day-long political convention at Chawalgam in Kulgam District in which he kick-started the Congress Party’s movement Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq for the restoration of Statehood after completing district-level conventions in Jammu.

Tariq Hameed Karra criticized the BJP government for failing to fulfill its promise of restoring statehood. He termed the delay a deliberate move to deny people their fundamental rights and privileges. The delay in granting statehood, despite promises made on the floor of parliament and a Supreme Court directive, is regrettable.

Karra added that the Congress party will continue to reiterate its urgent demand for the restoration of statehood in district-level conventions across Kashmir province. It will not sit until statehood is restored to J&K, he said.

On this occasion JKPCC President questioned J&K BJP to explain whether they are interested in Statehood or not, if they are interested then why don’t they speak about it in open and pressurize their Central Leader to restore Statehood to J&K. The silence-maintained shows that J&K BJP don’t want Statehood to be restored to J&K, Karra rued.

Referring to the Pahalgam massacre of innocent civilians, Karra questioned the tall claims of the Centre with respect to the prevalence of peace in J&K. He said the Centre Govt has failed to ensure protection of innocent people which led to the killings of tourists who had come here to spend time, but they were martyred due to the failure of the Govt on the security front.

JKPCC President also questioned the foreign policy of Centre Govt and said even after spending huge amount on foreign trips and meeting world leaders, Prime Minister was not able to get the support of world leaders which was visible during the India Pakistan conflict in the aftermath of Pahalgam massacre when no country supported India rather the US intervention is a clear violation of Shimla agreement.

The Prime Minister should clarify whether the Shimla Agreement remains intact, as the US intervention violates it, which is a matter of serious concern and reflects a failed foreign policy, he said.

Addressing the convention, CLP Leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir stated that Congress is committed to empowering people of every section equally, and it will continue to fight for safeguarding their rights. J&K is the worst hit of BJP’s divisive policies and misleading politics even the innocent lives were lost due to the failures and negligent behavior of BJP Govt, still many tall claims were made with respect to prevalence of peace, which is misleading and concocted stories aiming to hide failure on the part of Centre Govt.

Congress will fight for Statehood with constitutional rights and ensure that Jammu and Kashmir gets the respect and honor it deserves.
