AUG 19: Tightening the noose against the crime, the Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK) on Tuesday apprehended four persons in a land fraud case.
In a statement, the CBK said that the Economic Offence Wing has registered an FIR against four individuals in connection with land cheating and criminal conspiracy.
A case was registered on the heels of the written complaint which read that the accused Khurshid Ahmad Bhat, serving as Patwari, impersonated as landowner and entered into an agreement pertaining to sale of land.
The land measured 7 kanals and 2 marlas in Mouza Nuner, Ganderbal. The accused pretending to be the owner, however, it was later discovered land was owned by a migrant from Kashmiri Pandit community and held under power of attorney by a third party.
Notably, the accused have been identified as Khurshid Ahmad Bhat (Patwari) resident of Fatepora Ganderbal, Ghulam Nabi Bhat of Fatepora Ganderbal, Abdul Rashid Parray of Pandach Ganderbal and Sajid Rashid Parray resident of Pandach Ganderbal.
The complainant had in advance paid Rs 1.19 Crore out of asked gross amount of Rs 2.76 Crore.
Besides, a preliminary investigation has revealed a criminal conspiracy involving bogus documents, impersonation, and willful deception.
Police has taken the cognizance of the matter and a case has been registered in this regard. Further investigation is in progress.
