Jammu: A day after a protest held outside the Police Station Gharota, an FIR has been registered against JKNPP (Indian) contesting candidate from 77-Nagrota constituency, Harsh Dev Singh, and several party workers including Dhrumil, Balwan Singh and Javaid, for allegedly instigating a mob and blocking traffic on the Gharota main road. According to police sources, the accused persons allegedly misled the crowd by claiming that BJP workers had kidnapped his son, following which protesters blocked the road for over two hours, disrupting vehicular movement.
It was further alleged that Harsh Dev Singh used unparliamentary language against the government and the police department and violated the Model Code of Conduct, as elections are currently underway in the jurisdiction of Police Station Gharota. Following these developments, the District Magistrate Jammu issued an order vide No. ENT/J/202526/3630-3636 dated 09/11/2025. Consequently, FIR No. 96/2025 under sections 223/190/352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at Police Station Gharota, and investigation in the case is in progress.
