Srinagar, Apr 29: Director of the Meteorological Department Srinagar (MeT), Mukhtar Ahmad, on Wednesday said that brief thunderstorm activity accompanied by light rainfall is likely in parts of Kashmir till this evening, with overall weather conditions expected to improve from tomorrow.
He said fresh spells of light rain and thunderstorms, along with gusty winds, are forecast at several places on May 3 and 4, with the possibility of isolated hailstorms in some areas. Thereafter, dry weather conditions are expected to prevail around May 8 and 9.
The Director further stated that temperatures are likely to rise gradually in the coming days, particularly on May 1 and 2, and may increase again after May 5. However, he clarified that no heatwave conditions are expected in the Jammu division till May 5.
Advising the farming community, the MeT Department urged farmers to suspend spraying and related agricultural activities today and again on May 3 and 4 due to the likelihood of rain and gusty winds.
