JUNE 20: On Friday, J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah severely reprimanded PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and People’s Conference chief Sajad Lone for showing apathy towards the issue of reservation in recruitment during their regimes.
Addressing the reporters on Cabinet Sub-Committee report on reservations in recruitment, CM Omar said, “Mehbooba Mufti forbid her party workers to talk about reservation at the times of her election campaigning from Anantnag, Rajouri and Poonch. Besides, Sajad Lone was associated with the Government for five years and didn’t speak a word about reservation.”
“We (NC) were evicted from our government houses and security was downgraded, while Lone was sitting in a Government house restricted himself from talking on reservation then,” Omar said.
CM Omar Abdullah added that the NC-led Government had submitted the reservation report within six months and this is the first time the work has been done at such pace.
“If I had to delay the sub-committee report, I would have taken 6 more months, what would they have done…?” CM Omar outrightly said, adding, the Cabinet has verified the Sub-Committee’s report and further forwarded it to the law department for their comments.
