Jammu: Crime Branch Jammu has arrested a cashier of the Mechanical Division for large-scale misappropriation of government funds.
The accused, identified as Slocus Nar, Junior Assistant from Old Rehari, had served as cashier in the office of the Executive Engineer between 2008 and 2022. Investigations revealed that he manipulated treasury challans, revenue registers and official records, committing criminal breach of trust and causing heavy loss to the state exchequer.
He was suspended soon after the irregularities were detected by a departmental inquiry. Crime Branch confirmed his arrest in case FIR No. 79/2022 under relevant sections of the RPC and Prevention of Corruption Act. Further proceedings are underway.
