JULY 12: LG Manoj Sinha said that Jammu and Kashmir has become flag-bearer of transformation in different sectors including education, women empowerment and economic sectors.
While speaking in Shopian, LG Sinha underscored the importance of evading false narratives and bogus perceptions that once discouraged community engagement with Army.
LG Sinha emphasized, “Long back in Kashmir, people were asked not to send their children to Army Goodwill Schools. Narratives were made it instills fear and mistrust.”
“But I question you, if our gallant soldiers can safeguard the borders, then can’t they help educate the children?” LG said.
LG Sinha stressed upon the fact that bogus propaganda that used to mislead people has vanished over the past five years and Kashmiri community now acknowledges the value of education sponsored by these institutes.
Additionally, terming women as ‘Job Providers’ rather than ‘Job Seekers’, LG Sinha highlighted the imperative growth in women’s index of the Kashmir region.
“Several women have joined the Self Help Groups that have empowered them instead of making them vulnerable,” LG said.
Outlining the Govt-oriented schemes, for instance – National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), Umeed, and Tejaswini, the LG said that these have spearheaded the revolution of imparting welfare in conjunction with transformation in the lives of several women.
Stating that economy of Jammu and Kashmir has touched new heights in past five years, LG Sinha credited Good Governance, amended law and order, enhancement in development activities via public participation.
