Jammu,April 13:The national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nitin Nabin, is set to visit the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir later this month on a three-day tour. This will be his first visit to the region after assuming office as the party chief in January this year.
Sources said Nabin will spend two days in the Jammu region and one day in the Kashmir Valley. Several senior party leaders are expected to accompany him during the visit. Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh, Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, and BJP’s Union Territory president Sat Sharma are likely to join the programme along with party Members of Parliament from the region.
Meanwhile, the BJP is also planning a major public meeting in Srinagar during the summer to promote outreach and send a message of peace in the Kashmir Valley. The exact date for the event has not yet been finalized, but party insiders indicated it may be held after the completion of election processes in several states and union territories.
Nabin, who took over as BJP national president on January 20, succeeding Jagat Prakash Nadda, is expected to review the party’s organizational activities in Jammu and Kashmir and interact with party workers during his visit.
