Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday held separate meetings with Australian High Commissioner to India Philip Green and several legislators and deputations, focusing on strengthening international cooperation in agriculture and addressing pressing constituency-level development concerns.
During the meeting with the Australian envoy in New Delhi, both sides discussed avenues for enhanced cooperation in agriculture and allied sectors, particularly horticulture and animal husbandry. Emphasis was laid on knowledge sharing, adoption of best practices and capacity building to improve productivity and sustainability in Jammu and Kashmir.
The discussions also explored possibilities for institutional linkages and technical cooperation to support ongoing developmental initiatives in the Union Territory within the broader framework of India–Australia engagement. The interaction remained forward-looking, with a shared intent to deepen cooperation through appropriate channels. Mr. Orson Passi, Second Secretary, and Ms. Vandana Seth, Political Lead from the Australian High Commission, were also present.
Later in Jammu, several legislators and deputations called on the Chief Minister and apprised him of a range of constituency issues requiring timely intervention.
Among those who met him were MLA Ramnagar Sunil Bharadwaj, MLA Habbakadal Shamim Firdous, MLA Budhal Javaid Iqbal, MLA Kokernag Zaffar Ali Khatana, MLA Thanamandi Muzaffar Iqbal Khan, and former minister Yashpaul Kundal.
The representatives raised concerns related to basic infrastructure, road connectivity, healthcare, education and public service delivery, while also highlighting constituency-specific demands for balanced and inclusive development.
The Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to all delegations and assured them that genuine concerns would be examined on priority, reiterating the government’s commitment to responsive governance and equitable development across all regions.
