SAHIL BHAT

OCT 8: In a bid to hunt down the terrorists in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, security forces on Wednesday launched a massive search operation in the forests of Kokernag area.

Following the tip-off about the presence of group of terrorists hiding in the Ahlan Gadole area of Kokernag, the search operation was launched two days ago.

Besides, induction of more troops has been done to foil any nefarious incident that could cost life and disrupt tranquility in  the region.

It is learnt that Ahlan Gadole has become the new hotspot of terrorism in the valley as the area witnessed two fierce gunfights in August last year and September 2023.

With two soldiers making the supreme sacrifice and a civilian loosing life in a fierce gun battle with terrorists last year, four security forces personnel, including two army officers and a police officer, laid down their lives while tracking down the ultras in the dense forests.

The search operation is underway as per the latest reports.
