Jammu,June 15: Ahead of the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026, Anantnag Police has stepped up security measures by undertaking extensive anti-sabotage checks across the district to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
Officials said search and sanitisation drives are underway along the traditional pilgrimage routes, transit camps, accommodation centres and other sensitive locations. Teams comprising Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS), Dog Squads and personnel equipped with modern security devices are conducting thorough inspections to eliminate any potential security threats.
The police said the overall security network has been reinforced, with various agencies working in close coordination to safeguard pilgrims during the yatra.
The 57-day Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026 will commence on July 3 and conclude on August 28. The first batch of pilgrims is expected to be flagged off from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu on July 2, while registration for the pilgrimage is already underway.
Officials reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring a safe and hassle-free pilgrimage, stating that all necessary arrangements are being put in place to prevent any untoward incidents.
