Jammu: In a late-evening operation, Gangyal Police reportedly busted an alleged immoral activity racket operating from a rented house in the Bandhu Rakh area of Kunjwani and detained five persons, including two women stated to be from Thailand.
According to sources, the raid was conducted after police received specific and reliable information regarding suspicious activities allegedly taking place at the rented accommodation.
Acting on the inputs, a police team carried out a surprise raid at the house located in Bandhu Rakh locality under the jurisdiction of Gangyal Police Station.
Sources said the house had allegedly been rented by one Deepa. He is presently serving as an SPO in District Police Lines (DPL) Jammu.
During the operation, police reportedly detained two foreign women stated to be nationals of Thailand along with three other persons present at the premises.
Sources said police recovered certain material and documents from the spot, while the identities and background of the detained persons are being verified.
The detained individuals were shifted to the police station for questioning, and officials are also examining the possible involvement of additional persons linked to the alleged racket.
Police are reportedly verifying the travel and residential documents of the foreign nationals besides probing whether any violations related to visa conditions, human trafficking or immoral activities are involved in the case.
Officials have not yet issued an official statement regarding the nature of offences or the sections likely to be invoked, but sources indicated that legal proceedings are underway and further arrests or revelations cannot be ruled out.
The incident has triggered discussions in the locality, particularly due to the alleged involvement of a police SPO in arranging the rented accommodation.
