Jammu: Once worked in 24×7 hours during COVID outbreak with department’s employees working much beyond assigned duty hours, the Department of Radio Diagnosis, GMC Jammu, nowadays has been entangled with controversy which erupts due to alleged biasness and faulty administration.

The Radio Diagnosis Department of GMC which is the backbone of every department of GMC and associated hospitals came to limelight for its follies after a Kishtwar based patient who had come for MRI was abused prompting her daughter namely Kashish to come forward to expose the nexus.

Giving details to the media person, she said that her mother who was critically ill was asked to wait for hours for her fault of having an Ashuman Card for treatment as the preference was given to those who had made payments . Later, she rushed to the Medical Superintendent of the hospital and in whose direction the patient  got a chance to get her MRI done.

As the scribe started the probe, the Skeleton started tumbling out of the cupboard. It was told by the staffers that the most junior technician whom they named as Neeraj Kumar has been given all charges including MRI,CT Scan and others at the behest of almost hundred senior technicians including  their Chief. They even alleged that the patients were forced to purchase the contrast injection from a particular medical shop at exorbitant rates for handsome  commission.

They further alleged that even the charge of  medicos attendance has been handed over to him, adding, the senior technicians have no room in the hospital. They are forced to sit in the radiation centre.

Dr Vipan Magotra, Head of the Department, when contacted said that senior technicians  did not do their  work sincerely.

Dr Ashutosh Gupta, Principal and Dean, GMC&H when contacted said that he would take action once he received complaints from senior technicians.
