Srinagar, August 13: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg has appealed to people across Kashmir to attend the Union Territory-level Independence Day celebrations at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar, on August 15 and participate in the national event with enthusiasm.

Speaking to reporters, Garg said preparations for the main Independence Day function have been completed. Parade contingents, schoolchildren and officials from different departments have taken part in the rehearsals ahead of the celebrations.

He extended advance greetings to the people of Kashmir and Srinagar and urged them to come to Bakshi Stadium and be part of the August 15 programme.

Garg said people can also attend Independence Day celebrations at their respective district or regional headquarters. Those wishing to attend the UT-level event at Bakshi Stadium are welcome to participate.

Regarding entry arrangements, the Divisional Commissioner said public entry to Bakshi Stadium will be free, as has been the practice in previous years.

He added that arrangements have been made for visitors, including drinking water, toilet facilities and refreshments at the venue.

On security, Garg said adequate arrangements have been put in place in coordination with different security agencies. He said security reviews are being held regularly ahead of the national event.

Meanwhile, a full dress rehearsal was conducted at Bakshi Stadium as part of the final preparations for the main Independence Day function. Personnel from various departments, parade contingents and schoolchildren participated in the rehearsal.
