Srinagar, Sept 25: Congress members staged a protest inside the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Friday, displaying banners calling for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
As the House began its proceedings on the fourth day, the protesting MLAs raised slogans and voiced concerns over the conduct of the electoral process. Some members also raised the slogan, “Democracy has been murdered.”
The demonstration is part of the Congress’s broader campaign demanding Kumar’s removal as Chief Election Commissioner. The party has raised allegations concerning decisions linked to electoral rolls and has sought an independent examination of the matter.
