Jammu: Seven Private Members’ Resolutions have been selected for consideration in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on September 25, the day reserved for Private Members’ Business, with proposals covering regularisation of daily-wage workers, employment, parking, infrastructure, housing and conservation of water resources.
The Assembly Secretariat conducted balloting on Friday to select the resolutions for consideration during the ongoing autumn session.
Among the selected proposals is a resolution moved by BJP MLA Pawan Kumar Gupta seeking a comprehensive and uniform policy for regularisation of Daily Rated, Casual, NYC, Mid-Day Meal and similarly placed workers across government departments and agencies. The resolution calls for the policy to be framed and notified within a fixed timeframe.
BJP MLA Yudhvir Sethi has sought a time-bound Master Plan for parking facilities in Jammu East, while NC MLA Salman Sagar has proposed denotification of Phaak and Rural Block Harwan from the Srinagar Master Plan to ease restrictions faced by residents in the areas.
NC MLA Qaysar Jamshaid Lone has moved a resolution seeking expediting of the Lolab-Bandipora Tunnel project, highlighting the need for improved connectivity in the region.
Congress MLA Irfan Hafiz Lone has sought allotment of five marlas of State land to homeless families through his resolution.
Another proposal, moved by NC MLA Mir Saifullah, seeks formulation of a jobs policy with measurable annual targets and transparent recruitment mechanisms.
MLA Bandipora Nizam-Ud-Din Bhat has proposed declaring 2027-28 as the “year for retrieval of water resources”, with a focus on restoring wetlands, water bodies and other water resources across Jammu and Kashmir.
The seven resolutions will be taken up under Private Members’ Business on September 25, subject to the Assembly’s listed business and proceedings.
