Budgam, September 9: A devastating fire broke out in the Khan Mohalla area of Gurwait, Khansahib, during the midnight hours, reducing three residential houses to ashes and leaving six families without a home.
The fire reportedly spread rapidly through the locality, causing severe damage to the houses and destroying household items and other belongings kept inside.
As flames engulfed the structures, local residents rushed to the affected area and joined efforts to control the situation. Their prompt response helped prevent the fire from spreading to nearby properties.
Although the blaze was eventually brought under control, the three houses suffered complete damage. Six families have been displaced after losing their residences and a large portion of their personal belongings.
The incident has caused significant hardship for the affected families, who are now facing the immediate challenge of arranging shelter and essential necessities.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and registered a case to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the fire.
