Srinagar, Aug 4: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said the recent killings of civilians in South Kashmir were deeply condemnable, asserting that violence against innocent people has no place in any religion. He urged security agencies to take effective measures to prevent such incidents and ensure the safety of the people.
Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the J&K Open 2026, the Chief Minister said no justification could be given for targeting innocent civilians, adding that every faith stands for peace and respect for human life.
He also stressed that maintaining law and order remains the responsibility of the security establishment and expressed hope that stronger efforts would be made to stop similar attacks in the future.
His remarks come amid heightened security across the Valley following two separate terror attacks over the past ten days in which three people, including a police personnel, lost their lives.
