Anantnag, July 22: A police constable lost his life in a firing incident reported in the Lal Chowk area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday.
Officials said the injured policeman was rushed to a nearby hospital soon after the incident. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival. The deceased has been identified as Ashiq Hussain.
The motive and circumstances behind the firing were not immediately clear.
Following the incident, police launched an investigation, sealed off the entire area, and deployed additional security personnel. A search operation is also underway as authorities work to determine the facts surrounding the incident.
