Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir BJP on Saturday began preparations for what will be the first visit of the party’s National President Nitin Nabin to the Union Territory after assuming charge, with senior leaders reviewing organisational activities and finalising the roadmap for upcoming political and public outreach programmes.
The announcement was made during a meeting of BJP office bearers held at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, chaired by J&K BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma.
The proposed July 6–7 visit is being seen as politically significant for the party’s organisational push in Jammu and Kashmir and is expected to focus on strengthening cadre engagement, public outreach and reviewing the party’s activities across the Union Territory.
According to party leaders, Nitin Nabin will address party workers, public conventions and organisational meetings during his two-day programme in Jammu.
Senior BJP leaders, office bearers, district Prabharis, district presidents and district Seh-Prabharis from across Jammu and Kashmir participated in the meeting, which also reviewed the progress of ongoing party campaigns and preparations for upcoming events.
Addressing the gathering, Sat Sharma emphasised effective execution of all organisational programmes at every level and outlined six major initiatives scheduled by the party in the coming weeks.
He also highlighted the observance of Dr Shyama Prasad Mookherjee Smriti Pakhwada from June 23 to July 6 and underlined the significance of commemorating Dr Mookherjee’s birth anniversary on July 6.
BJP General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul called for greater organisational coordination and stressed the need to hold regular meetings from district to booth level to further strengthen the party’s grassroots structure.
He also urged party workers to organise seminars on the life and contribution of Dr Shyama Prasad Mookherjee, undertake plantation drives during the monsoon season and actively participate in the party’s digital learning initiatives.
Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, addressing the meeting, spoke about developmental initiatives undertaken in Jammu and Kashmir under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and said the Union Territory has witnessed major changes in infrastructure and public welfare after the abrogation of Article 370.
Party leaders also reviewed ongoing organisational activities across district, mandal and Shakti Kendra levels and discussed mechanisms to improve implementation and reporting.
During the meeting, a book documenting major developmental initiatives and projects undertaken in the Udhampur–Kathua–Doda Parliamentary Constituency was also released.
The office bearers meeting was attended by senior BJP leaders including Priya Sethi, Sanjita Dogra, Baldev Singh Billawaria, Anwar Khan, Gopal Mahajan and Rajya Sabha MP Ghulam Ali Khatana.
Earlier in the day, the party also held a core group meeting before convening the broader organisational review session.
