Anantnag, May 6: In a move to strengthen monitoring of drug-related offenders, Anantnag Police on Tuesday fitted a GPS-enabled anklet on an accused who was recently granted bail in an NDPS case.
Officials said the device was installed as per court directions to track the movements of the accused, Fayaz Ahmad Dar of Zaldoora Dooru. He is named in FIR No. 56/2026 registered under Section 8/18 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Dooru.
Police said the GPS anklet was made a mandatory condition for bail to ensure strict compliance with court orders. The device enables real-time location tracking and helps authorities prevent any further involvement in narcotics-related activities.
A police said the step reflects the increasing use of modern technology to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse, adding that such measures will improve monitoring of repeat offenders and strengthen law enforcement.
