SHOPIAN, MAY 1: The body of a four-year-old boy from Pulwama, who had gone missing after falling into a stream in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, was recovered on Friday from the Ranbiara nallah in the Hirpora area.
Officials identified the child as Mohammad Hanzala, a resident of Tiken village in Pulwama. He had slipped into the fast-flowing stream near Dubjan Bridge on April 27 and was immediately carried away by the strong current.
After an extensive five-day search operation, the body was located downstream in the Ranbiara stream, officials said.
Rescue efforts were launched soon after the incident, involving teams from the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). Authorities also deployed specialised equipment to scan deeper sections of the nallah and increased manpower to speed up the search.
