Jammu: Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat on Monday said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police continues to serve as the “frontline shield against elements attempting to disturb peace in the region.”
He was addressing a grand Pipping-cum-Felicitation Ceremony held at the Police Auditorium, Gulshan Ground in Jammu, which was attended by senior officers including ADGP Armed Nitish Kumar, IGP Jammu Bhim Sain Tuti, DIGs of Jammu, Udhampur and Reasi ranges, and SSPs from across Jammu province.
The ceremony was dedicated to police personnel who have demonstrated exceptional courage and strategic excellence during recent counter-terrorism operations across the Union Territory.
Addressing the gathering, the DGP lauded the “unflinching spirit” of the force and reiterated their crucial role in maintaining peace. “Today’s ceremony is more than a formality; it is a testament to the grit and determination of our personnel who risk everything to safeguard the lives of citizens. These promotions and recognitions are a small token of our gratitude for their immense sacrifices,” he said.
On the occasion, dozens of personnel were conferred out-of-turn promotions in recognition of their “conspicuous gallantry” during high-risk encounters. The DGP personally pinned new rank insignias on the promoted officers, acknowledging their dedication and sacrifice.
In a significant step towards strengthening the force at the grassroots level, several Special Police Officers (SPOs) were formally inducted as regular Constables in recognition of their crucial contributions in successful anti-terror operations.
