Jammu: In a significant administrative move, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered the transfer and posting of over 80 police officers across the Union Territory, effective immediately.

The order, issued by the Home Department under Government Order No. 200-Home of 2026 on 2nd April, aims to enhance operational efficiency and strengthen law enforcement in the region.

Among the notable changes, Mr. Tejinder Singh, IPS of the 2008 batch and former DIG of the Rajouri-Poonch Range, has been posted as IGP CID, while Ms. Sarah Rizvi, IPS of the same batch and former DIG of the Udhampur-Reasi Range, has taken charge as IGP Crime, relieving Mr. Sujit Kumar, IPS, of additional responsibilities. Shahid Mehraj Rather, IPS 2009 batch, previously DIG Armed Kashmir, has been appointed as Director of Police Telecommunication, and Shridhar Patil Daulu, IPS 2010 batch and former DIG of the Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range, has assumed charge as DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua.

The reshuffle also affects officers handling Traffic, IR, Armed, Railways, CTFD, SIA, and other specialized units, with several senior officers now leading key districts and administrative departments. Officers from the 2011–2012 batches, including Ms. Bisma Qazi and Ms. Deepika, have been assigned critical positions at Tech CID HQ and CTFD CID HQ, respectively, while Mr. Amod Nagpure Ashok and Mr. Amritpal Singh have moved to Anantnag and Udhampur districts. Additionally, over forty JKPS officers from the 1999–2012 batches have been posted to operational and administrative roles across Jammu, Kashmir, and rural districts, including SP, Dy. CO, and Aide-de-Camp positions, with some officers awaiting formal assumption of charge until their predecessors retire or vacate the post.

The government has directed that all transfers and postings be carried out in the interest of administration. The Lieutenant Governor of J&K has approved the orders, which have been circulated to the Director General of Police, the Chief Secretary, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and all concerned officers to ensure smooth implementation. With this comprehensive reshuffle, the J&K administration seeks to reinforce policing, improve administrative oversight, and ensure effective law enforcement across the Union Territory.
