Srinagar: Asserting that the administration is building a future-ready academic ecosystem that is inclusive, innovative, and impactful, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said, “Our aim is to empower every student of Jammu Kashmir to realise their potential, uphold the spirit of Viksit Bharat @2047, and emerge as a proud contributor to the nation’s growth story.”
LG Sinha delivered the inaugural address at the NEP Conclave 2025, organised by the Higher Education Department, and applauded all stakeholders for their efforts in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) across higher educational institutions in the Union Territory.
He highlighted that Jammu and Kashmir is among the first regions in the country to fully adopt the NEP, setting a benchmark for inclusive and innovative education.
Emphasizing the integration of technology with traditional Indian values, the Lieutenant Governor said, “The Artificial Intelligence Age combined with Indian ethos in higher educational institutions will address future challenges and spur strong economic growth.”
He stressed the importance of critical thinking, lifelong learning, and project-based interdisciplinary education, moving away from traditional siloed subjects to bridge the gap between academia and real-world applications.
LG Sinha also highlighted the need to establish monitoring mechanisms to ensure research projects are future-oriented, generate new ideas, and introduce fresh perspectives into society’s knowledge flow. He called on universities to implement innovative programs like Design Your Own Degree in a time-bound manner and urged institutions to share resources and address challenges collaboratively to bring about a holistic transformation in higher education.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; Prof. Dinesh Singh, Vice Chairman Higher Education Council J&K; Shantmanu, Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education Department; vice chancellors, senior officials, faculty members, and students.
