Every District Police has announced helplines for the use of public at times of catastrophe

SEPT 4: In the wake of heavy waterlogging triggered from torrential rains that disrupted normal life in parts of valley, IGP Kashmir VK Birdi said that greater synergy among all departments in place for rescue operations.
Speaking to the media, IGP Kashmir said that due to incessant downpour resulting in waterlogging at several areas of South Kashmir since yesterday, rescue operation has been in full swing to evacuate the people to safer zones.
IGP Birdi added that with coordinated efforts of Police, Army, NDRF and SDRF, several people have been rescued to safer habitat as of now.
Elucidating coordinated efforts, Birdi said Police’s sub-ordinate units have deployed to do patrolling at the vulnerable areas of the valley, adding, the Police stations near Jehlum have been asked to partner with Flood Control teams to plug in the leakages if any occured.
Birdi said every District Police has announced helplines for use at times of catastrophe, besides, 112 number of Police is in public domain and if any call dropped at the nearest rescue units, it will be responded, promptly.
IGP Kashmir said that the weather forecast is favourable, significant drop in water-level has been witnessed, and whereever the administration is issuing advisory, it shall be followed vigilantly.
IGP Kashmir VK Birdi said Police has been deployed for evacuation in the houseboats and other areas if the situation arises.
