JUNE 2: Former Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party Chief Mehbooba Mufti called on LG Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar and highlighted key issues pertaining to dignified return of Kashmiri Pandits, peaceful conduct of Shri Amarnath Yatra and the release of Kashmiri detainees ahead of Eid.
Mehbooba Mufti addressed a press conference apprised about three key pointers she highlighted before LG Manoj Sinha – respectful return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits to the valley, smooth and peaceful conduct of Shri Amarnath Yatra and the release of Kashmiri youth detainees ahead of Eid.
Pointing out the MHA, over 64,000 Kashmiri Pandit families putting up outside the valley and face challenges in terms of security and employment when it comes to returning to Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti said Kashmiri Pandits are integral part of the Valley and their return is pertinent.
In view of upcoming Amarnath Yatra, PDP stalwart said, “We told LG Sinha that Kashmiris have always welcomed Yatris, and want the pilgrimage to continue it smooth and peacefully.”
Mehbooba also outlined the predicament of Kashmiri youth detained under minor charges and urged the Government for their release before Eid.
She said, “Several youth are behind bars, and their families are suffering, setting them free them will be a gesture of kindness during Eid.”
