Jammu: Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday intensified action against corruption and economic offences, with four Fire and Emergency Services officials being suspended following their arrest by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), while the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir booked five persons in a multi-crore migrant land fraud case.
In Jammu, the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services suspended Leading Fireman Farooq Ahmad Wani and Firemen Mohammad Abdul Qayoom, Feroz Ahmad Yatoo and Shameem Ahmad Dar after their arrest by the ACB in connection with FIR No. 01/2025 registered at Police Station ACB Central Jammu.
According to an order issued by Director, Fire and Emergency Services Alok Kumar, the suspension has been ordered pending further investigation and legal proceedings in the case. The ACB is continuing its probe.
Meanwhile, in Kashmir, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch J&K booked five accused in connection with an alleged multi-crore fraud involving the attempted illegal sale of 14 kanals and 3 marlas of migrant land situated at Goshbugh, Pattan in Baramulla district.
As part of the investigation, EOW conducted a house search at Banit, Beerwah in Budgam district. Officials said the case pertains to an alleged criminal conspiracy involving fake agreements and fraudulent attempts to sell migrant property without the consent of the actual owner.
Investigators alleged that the accused duped the complainant of crores of rupees on the pretext of facilitating the land sale. The search was carried out to collect further evidence, while the investigation into the case is continuing.
The Economic Offences Wing also advised the public to remain vigilant against financial fraudsters and urged citizens to report cases of economic fraud to the SSP, EOW Kashmir, Crime Branch J&K.
