Jammu: In a major administrative move, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered the promotion of 13 senior officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Service (JKPS), strengthening the leadership structure of the force.
According to separate orders issued by the Home Department, four officers have been elevated to higher executive grades, including Kulbir Singh (JKPS-1999), who has been promoted to the prestigious Super Time Scale-I (Level 13A) of the Pay Matrix following the recommendation of Selection Committee-I. His promotion takes effect immediately.
Additionally, three JKPS officers from the 2001 batch — Abrar Ahmad Choudhary, Gh. Jeelani Wani, and Amit Bhasin — have been promoted to the grade of Senior Superintendent of Police, Selection Grade-I (Level-13). While Choudhary’s promotion is notional from December 24, 2024, all three officers will now receive the benefits of their new ranks with immediate effect.
In a separate order, nine more officers have been promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Police, Selection Grade-II (Level-12). These include Vinay Kumar (JKPS-2002), Parvez Ahmad Dar (JKPS-2007), and Tariq Ahmad Wani, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Zoheb Tanveer (all JKPS-2008), who have been promoted notionally with effect from December 24, 2024, and regularly with immediate effect. Four others — Rayaz Iqbal Tantray, Amit Verma, Iftikhar Talib, and Noor Ul Hassan (all from the 2008 batch) — have been promoted with immediate effect.
The promotions reflect the government’s commitment to recognizing merit and experience within the police ranks and are expected to further boost morale and efficiency in the force.
