10K trainings, 1900 placements, Himayat to undergo evaluation

Jammu: With an objective to make Himayat scheme more successful in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), the government has constituted an apex committee to evaluate the project implementing agency and set future targets.

The apex committee comprises of nine members, mandated to approve the proposal of project implementing agencies, to approve the of project implementing agencies, allot targets, set areas of operation and set the project framework for implementation of Himayat Scheme as per DDU-GKY guidelines.

“As many as 63 training centres are active in J&K. In last three years, 10932 persons have completed trainings. Out of them, 1900 have placed and working under the different organizations,” an official told The News Now.

“48 projects with the target of training 74324 persons have been sanctioned of which 33 projects are operational,” he added.

He informed that the apex committee will be headed by Financial Commissioner, Health & Medical Education Department. The other members of the committee include Principal Secretary to Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor, Administrative Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department, Administrative Secretary, Labour & Employment Department, Administrative Secretary, Department rural development and Panchayati Raj, Administrative Secretary J&K Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) and Representative from Deen Dayal Upadhyaya-Grameen

Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India and Representative from Central Technical Support Agency (CTSA)

Himayat is a placement linked skill training programme for unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir and is being implemented by the Himayat Mission Management Unit and Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj. The focus is on placement of youth in a befitting manner commensurate with the level of education and aspiration of youth.
