India inflicts heavy losses after woman dead in Pak’s LoC firing

SRINAGAR: A civilian was killed and five others were injured as Pakistani troops opened fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Machhil sector of Kupwara district, even as the Pakistani Army also shelled forward posts and villages along the LoC in Rajouri district, inviting strong retaliation from Indian Army on Wednesday.
The Indian Army is giving a befitting response to the Pakistani aggression that started on Tuesday night and continued on Wednesday and heavy losses have been inflicted upon the neighbouring nation.
As per defence sources, Pakistan resorted to heavy firing in Machhil sector of Kupwara district along the LoC on Tuesday night.
The enemy nation targeted civilian areas and at least six civilians were injured in the firing.
“Of these, a woman succumbed to her injuries while five injured have been admitted to a hospital,” they said.
Several terror targets in Upper Neelum belt were targeted by our troops and were destroyed in Indian retaliation even as Pakistani posts in Sharda, Dodhanyal & Changan of Neelum Valley were also hit, defence sources said.
In Jammu region, Pakistani Army on Wednesday shelled forward posts and villages along the LoC in Rajouri district, a defence spokesman said.
There was no immediate report of any casualty in the Pakistani firing and shelling, the spokesman said.
"At about 3.15 pm, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing small arms and mortars along the LoC in Sunderbani sector. Indian Army is retaliating befittingly," he said.
Sources informed that the Army retaliated with full force and used heavy artillery guns.
“Heavy casualties have been inflicted on Pakistan and our troops are retaliating with full force,” another defence official said.
