JAMMU: The academic session 2019-20 of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) is likely to face further delay as the restrictions continue for the 46th day across the State following union government’s decision to abrogate special status of state and bifurcate it in two Union Territories.

“Aiming to ease the admission process in ITIs, we had introduced online admission process this year but due to internet curbs, the initiative halted and we were forced to precede admission process manually,” an official of Technical Education department said.

“The official from Kashmir region was asked to attend the Jammu office and complete the admission process at the earliest. The officials are working on war footing to securitize the admission forms,” he added.

“We have received more than 35000 applications for the 13500 seats. The officials are securitizing the applications and will complete the process soon,” Director of Technical Education, J&K, Dr Ravi Shankar Sharma told The News Now.

“Yes the process is delayed according to online initiative we had taken this year. If you compare to previous year, the classes of ITIs start from ending September. If the prevailing situation will continue for more time the classes will be delayed by 10-12 days only,” he added.

He added that officials are managing work manually.

“In Kashmir region the staff of ITIs reaching students by local notification or using their contacts or by using circular in Newspapers to apprise them about the status of their applications,” he said.

However, the last date for submission of online admission forms was August 5th but on the same day the restrictions were imposed in the state after union government introduced bills in the Parliament to repeal special status of the state and to bifurcate the state in two union territories.
