Vice-Prez, PM pay homage to martyrs of Parliament attack

New Delhi, Dec 13 : Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh among others paid floral tributes to martyrs of Parliament attack on Thursday morning.

The leaders paid homage to the supreme sacrifice made by the country's brave security personnel while defending the Parliament during the terrorist attack on December 13, 2001.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, BJP president Amit Shah, veteran BJP leader LK Advani, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, Leader of All India Trinamool Congress Parliamentary Party in Lok Sabha Sudip Bandyopadhyay and other senior Members of Parliament paid floral tributes to the martyrs on the 17th anniversary of the attack.

On December 13, 2001, five gunmen entered the Parliament complex and opened fire. The cowardly attack was foiled by the alert security forces guarding the Parliament Complex.

Five security personnel of Delhi Police, one woman constable of CRPF, two security assistants of the Parliament Security Service achieved martyrdom. One Gardner was also martyred in the terrorist attack.
