Srinagar, Sep 15: Mobile internet service of all cellular companies has been suspended in twin south Kashmir districts of Anantnag and Kulgam as a precautionary measure to prevent spread of rumours following the killing of three militants in an encounter early Saturday morning.

The district administrations in Kulgam and Anantnag have directed all Cellular companies, including Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to suspend mobile service.

This step, official sources said, has been taken to prevent spread of rumours on social media. However, broadband and fixed line internet service was functioning normally.

Internet service was normal elsewhere in the valley.
