Landslide disrupts traffic on Shimla-Kangra National Highway No 88

Shimla, Aug 16: Landslide in between Galog and Bathalang, had forced brief closure of Shimla-Kangra National Highway No-88.

However, the traffic was restored after some time. While few vehicles got stranded on both the sides, some were diverted via Kunihar to Shimla.

A fresh report said that road was cleared after a couple of hours and the traffic opened.

Vehicular traffic was partly restored last night on Hindustan Tibet National Highway near Chakimoardh near Dharmpur of Solan district. Similarly, vehicular traffic between Rohru and Shimla remained disrupted and vehicles were diverted via Narkanda to Rohru .

More than hundred roads are still blocked in the state and government sources said that 85 are likely to be reopened by this afternoon. Torrential rainfall last week claimed took very high toll of lives and property last week as the government said that weather vagaries rendered revenue loss of Rs 600 crore and nearly 20 lives.

Traffic on Kalka Shimla Heritage Railway line was also disrupted heavy landslides came down on the track at many places.
