2nd Anniversary Edition
It will be 2 years of ‘We The Women’ being published on 20 July, 2018. So on this last edition of another year, we are celebrating the second anniversary of ‘We The Women’ which has evolved from being just a page or a section to become a community. And as we all know that ‘We The Women’ is all about we, the women, it will only be apt if we celebrate this by celebrating all the women who have inspired us with their journeys, their vigor to take on challenges and spirit to fight through every struggle, their accomplishments and their strong individualities. ‘We The Women’ brings to you the recap of last year and introduce to you some amazing women, we were privileged to feature with us. We are honored to bring forward their stories to you all. Without further ado and any special order, here are those women.
DR. RADHIKA CHOPRA
Radhika is an extremely talented and versatile artiste, who is not only a holder of Doctorate degree in Indian Classical Music but a much sought-after composer and singer across India, Pakistan and as far as the United Kingdom, the Near East and East Africa where loyal audiences have been charmed and enthralled by her melodious and soul stirring renditions, and fabulous personality. BILQUIS MIR
Biliquis Mir is popularly known for being the first women from Jammu & Kashmir to coach a National Team in this particular sport, but formerly and more importantly she is first women participant from India who participated in MOL ICF Sprint Racing World Cup in Kayaking and Canoeing in Szeged, Hungary, 2009. She has a substantial list of firsts. Today, Biliquis has eleven years of experience as coach at both National and State level; she has been in-charge J&K State Sports Council (JKSSC) Water Sports Centre Nehru Park and Indian Kayaking and Canoeing team coach. ANSHITA KOUL
Anshita Koul is also popularly known as ‘Anshita Crazy Koul’, amongst her YouTube subscribers and other social media followers. “I'm a storyteller. I entertain, dance, make videos, write, pose, travel, eat, ‘lol’ and live”- that’s how she introduces herself. And as of today, in this ever-growing journey another blinging badge of ‘Stand-up Comedian’ has attached after her appearance and remarkable performance at ‘Queens of Comedy’ on TLC. INSHA MANZOOR
Insha is an artist; known to be the first north Indian to ever pursue Masters in Painting from prestigious Royal College of Arts. In fact she was offered double Master’s degree which is exceptional.In her kity, Insha has several awards and grants. She paints with purpose. TANYA GUPTA
Tanya Gupta is a very talented and versatile singer who charmed the world with her voice at Asian Games 2010. Another gem of the State, who has brought laurels to this state, mesmerizing people world over with her melodious voice. THE EVERESTERS
Stanzlin Laskit, Tashi Laskit, Tsering Angmo and Rigzen Dolker are young mountaineers who brought glory to our state, back in 2016. All of them were the part of the first-ever all girls expedition of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) that scaled the highest peak of the world, the Everest. It is unbelievable that at that point of time their ages were ranging from 18 to 22 only. These four girls made it through every test and hurdle and summit the highest mountain in the world. The expedition succeeded in two consecutive days as two batches comprising of five girls each, scaled the peak on May 21 at 11:00 am and May 22 at 07:40 am. All of them have been honoured with the State Award along with being appreciated by Former President of India Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. SANGEETA S BAHL
Sangeeta became the oldest Indian women to summit Mt Everest on 19 May, at age of 53, making the clichéd adage ‘age is just a number’ true. She bettered the record previously held by compatriot Prem Lata Aggarwal who had scaled Mt Everest at the age of 48 in 2011. She has been praised by many including PM Narendra Modi who lauded her in his monthly radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’ and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti who also tweeted about her. AARUSHI THAKUR

SHWETIMA JAMWAL
Better introduced as RJ Shwetima Jamwal aka ‘Jammu Di Kuddi' is the possessor of the voice that would make you want to befriend her instantly. She has the capability to serve positivity and enthusiasm just with her way of delivering speech. It hasn't even been a year of her being in this field yet and she has thrived substantially already not fearing to try and venture out in other fields like singing and composing. RENUKAA RANA MODI

AARTI MAHAJAN DINGRA
Aarti Mahajan Dingra, is a fitness trainer and owner of ‘Shape and Smile-The fitness club. She is one of those with megawatt smile and aura exhibiting moving oomph, which I believe her establishment as a trainer and entrepreneur has a lot to do with and vice-versa. NAFISA RACHEL WILLIAM
A graduate in English Literature from St. Stephens, Nafisa Rachel William is a journalist-turned-designer, with her eponymous label. Despite being a journalist, Nafisa ‘pursued her dream of creating clothes’; her inner calling made her switch to fashion world in 2010; a world where anyone can get lost in the whirls, Nafisa held her grounds and flourished from there. 19.5k followers on Instagram and 94k followers on her Facebook page (Label Nafisa Raschel William) is a little hint how much her label is adored and admired. DR. KAVITA SURI
Dr. Kavita Suri is a former journalist, academician, an author and one of the two members of State Commission for Women, Jammu and Kashmir who is in her mid-forties and peacefully single. VARUNA ANAND
Textile designer and entrepreneur Varuna Anand founded ‘The Splendor of Kashmir’ along with her husband Late Parveen Anand in November 2011. DT. GURMEET GUJRAL
Gurmeet is a certified Food & Nutritionist/Dietitian, executive member India Dietetic Association (J&K Chapter) and a proud fellow of the Nutritionist Entrepreneurship Program. In her thirties, Gurmeet decided to pursue Maters of Science in Dietetics and Food Service Management, when her children were grown up enough to take care of themselves. She has participated in almost 400 Plays, Nukkad Nataks, for public awareness of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign. AARATRIKA SINGH JAMWAL
