Alleged kidnapping row: Bhagat's wife appeals to PM for action against husband

Jammu, Jul 13: A day after Jammu and Kashmir BJP MLA Gagan Bhagat and his wife Monika Sharma appeared before the disciplinary committee of the party, the MLA's wife on Friday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and sought action against him.

The BJP disciplinary committee is probing the matter of objectionable picture of Dr Bhagat with a minor girl went viral on social media.

The family of the girl had also levelled allegations of kidnapping against the MLA.

"I want to appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene into the matter and initiate action against her husband (MLA) for spoiling her life," Ms Monika, also state secretary of the BJP Mahila Morcha, told reporters here.

She said her fight for justice will remain continue as she is fighting for her children. "No maintenance is being provided to us by my husband." A petition seeking divorce and maintenance from him is already pending in the court.

The girl's father on June 24 had accused the MLA of kidnapping his minor daughter. He threatened to self immolate himself if no action was taken against him. Dr Bhagat had on Thursday refuted the allegation and claimed that he was paying Rs 1 lakh to his wife.

Meanwhile, Ms Monika has also alleged that they have been living separately for the past 6 to 7 months.
