Srinagar, Jul 12: Business and other activities remained affected on Thursday in the downtown Srinagar on the second death anniversary of a local militant who was killed in an encounter in the central Kashmir district of Badgam last year.

Shops and business establishments remained closed in the downtown, including Nowhatta, Gojwara, Rajouri Kadal, Naqashband sahib and Jamia Market, on the second death anniversary of Sajjad Ahmad Gilkar, who was killed along with three other militants in an encounter with security forces in Badgam district on this day last year. However, traffic was plying normally on all routes.

Life was crippled in the valley, including downtown, yesterday due to a strike called by separatists against the civilian killings in security force action.

However, life was normal elsewhere in the summer capital, Srinagar today.
