Ex-Min’s brother sent to 3-day police remand

KATHUA: In connection with a case related to abusing Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti during a public rally, Rajinder Singh, brother of BJP leader Lal Singh, has been remanded to three-day police custody by Executive Magistrate.

Absconding for past three weeks, the State Police had finally arrested Singh from Udaipur in Rajasthan.
A special team of Kathua police which arrested Singh there on Sunday, had reached back Hiranagar during late evening hours of Monday.

The police team produced accused before Executive Magistrate, who ordered three days police remand.
“Rajinder Singh alias Babby, who was on run after a case for abusing Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti during Dogra Swabhimaan Rally organised on May 20 in Hiranagar, was nabbed from Jodhpur in Rajasthan on Sunday. A Special Police Team from Kathua was sent to Jodhpur where they with the help of local police in Rajasthan arrested him,” SSP Shridhar Patil said.

It is pertinent to mention that Rajinder Singh Bubby was booked in a case vide FIR No 87/2018 u/s 501/500 RPC 66/67 Information Technology Act registered in Police Station Hiranagar for using abusive language against Chief Minister during the rally held in support of CBI probe in Rasana case.

The police had cracked the case with the help of technical experts and pinpointed Rajinder's location in Udaipur of Rajasthan. Immediately, a team was sent to Udaipur where help from the local police was sought in nabbing the accused. Singh had been constantly on the move from one place to another so as to evade arrest.
“He was on way to Mumbai at the time of his apprehension,” state police chief Dr S P Vaid had said.

Informed sources told The News Now that SSP Kathua Shridhar Patil’s batch mate, posted in Udaipur was instrumental in securing Singh’s arrest.
