JAMMU: The State Police’s role has come under scanner after an aggrieved family wrote to Chief Minister alleging therein in that police reportedly refused to lodge FIR-at the behest of a BJP legislator- against a man who allegedly molested a 13 year old girl while she was going to school.

The incident was reported from Thandapani of Sunderbani, in district Rajouri, wherein complainant Gulzar Hussain has alleged that one Mohammad Zafar molested her daughter and tried to kidnap her, adding, she was released only after the interference of the locals of the area.

He further alleged that earlier one Anwar Hussain, who has close links with a local MLA, started mounting pressure on his family to get his daughter married with Zafar and when they refused his proposal, Zafar committed crime against her.

He said that he had lodged complaint with the police but succumbing to MLA’s pressure, no substantiate action was taken by the SHO concerned.

Failing to get justice, the parents of the girl lodged complaint with the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti stating that police did not lodge FIR against the accused person on the pretext that he has close links with the MLA in ruling party.

The father of the victim leveled allegations against the MLA, stating in the letter that he was shielding the accused, and thus they were denied justice.

However, to substantiate the allegations, The News Now contacted to the MLA Ravinder Raina who outrightly refused the allegations, terming those baseless and made in an attempt to tarnish his image.

Terming it a conspiracy against him, Raina said that there are some vested interested persons who are behind it.

He said that some persons applied for opening of the bar and restaurant in the area in the name and style of ‘Tasty Bar and Restaurant’ which was objected by the people following which he took up the matter with the government.

“I have nothing to do with the man in question. There are some vested persons who surely had persuaded the complainant to implicate me with the issue,” said MLA, adding, “I shall see them in court”.

Meanwhile, SSP Reasi, Yougal Manhas when contacted said that both complainant and accused are relatives and some foul play can’t be ruled out. He added that the matter was being investigated.
