One detained for delivering mobile to convict in jail

JAMMU: Alert staff at Central Jail at Kotbhalwal today nabbed a man for allegedly supplying a mobile handset with SIM card to the convicted person.

Official sources said that one Manzoor Ahmed of Banihal was nabbed when he made a bid to supply mobile handset to one Abdul Wahid Nail convicted in murder case, during mulakat in Central Jail.
Sources said that Manzoor hid the mobile handset in one of the pair of shoes to hand over the same to the convicted person, however, during frisking of the box the same was seized.
“The accused was later hand over to the Police for further legal action, jail sources said.
This is not an first incident of this kind as barely two months ago, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) team on this March 9 (Monday) during it raids at Srinagar Central Jail had seized a Pakistani flag, 25 mobile phones and jehadi literature.
Prior to this on April 2 (Sunday) last year i.e. 2017, in a major crackdown, police seized 14 mobile phones from a sub-jail in Baramulla district of Kashmir which were allegedly being used by the inmates to be in touch with their contacts in Pakistan via WhatsApp.
