Prominent Gujjar leader from Inderwal joins PDP

Kishtwar, May 20: A prominent political activist and senior leader from Gujjar community hailing from Tipri Patshalla area of Inderwal assembly constituency in Kishtwar district, Chowdhary Mohammad Yaqoob, joined People’s Democratic Party in presence of District President Kishtwar Sheikh Nasir Hussain.

Chowdhary Yaqoob, who has been associated with the BJP and worked in different capacities, was also elected Panch in Panchayat Tipri.

PDP District President Kishtwar Sheikh Nasir Hussain Advocate welcomed Yaqoob into the party fold and expressed hope that his joining will strengthen the party especially in the ST dominated area of Bonjwah.

Chowdhary Yaqoob said he had been observing the functioning of the PDP for long and had come to the conclusion that it was the only political party that worked for the interests of the poor, marginalized and backward communities in Jammu and Kashmir.

"PDP is the only party having a clear agenda for the betterment of the ST community of the state," he said accusing other political parties of "failure" to do anything good for the people of the state.
