60 sovereign gold jewels, cash looted from jewellery shop in TN

Thoothukudi, Mar 22 : Burglars broke into a jewellery outlet and made away with golden ornaments weighing 60 sovereigns and Rs 25,000 in cash at Ettayapuram, here in the wee hours of Thursday.
Police said the burglars gained entry into the jewellery shop by breaking the locks and looted the jewels from the safe. The burglary came to light this morning, when the jewellery outlet proprietor Sankara Narayanan came to open it for routine transaction.
Based on his complaint, Senior police officials and fingerprint experts visited the outlet and held inquiry. The outlet proprietor had left the key of the safe in the shop, making things easier for the burglars, police said.
A special team was formed to nab the burglars.
