Srinagar, Mar 20 : Scores of students of different colleges in the valley staged a protest in the summer capital, Srinagar, demanding reduction in syllabus and examination of their backlog papers as soon as possible.

Scores of under graduate students from different colleges assembled in Partap Park in Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of the summer capital, and held a sit in protests against alleged careless attitude of the Kashmir University authorities.

Holding placards which read, ‘We want justice’, Reduce syllabus by 50 per cent for 5th and 6th semesters’, ‘Conduct backlog paper examinations as soon as possible’, the protesting students threatened to intensify the agitation if their demands were not fulfilled.

“We started the under graduate courses in 2015 and were supposed to finish them in 2017, but we are still left with two semesters because of the 2016 unrest and situation thereafter,” the protesting students said.

They said the university authority has now decided to take our 5th and 6th semester examination jointly.
