Samuel IPS passes away

JAMMU : S R Samuel, IGP, a J&K cadre IPS officer of 1999 batch, passed away Friday morning in New Delhi. Governor NN Vohra expressed grief over his death and prayed to the Almighty for granting peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear this loss.

Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti also expressed her grief over Sameul’s demise and conveyed her sympathies to the bereaved family.

Dr. S.P Vaid, IPS, Director General of Police J&K has condoled the sudden and tragic demise of Late Samuel, who was on deputation to GoI as Joint Development Commissioner, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises.

An IPS officer of 1999 batch, he was posted in the State as SDPO Chrar-i-Sharief, ASP Jammu, AD SKPA Udhampur, SSP Leh and CO IRP 13th Bn.

A condolence meeting was held at PHQ which was chaired by V.K Singh, IPS Special DG. The meeting was attended among others by J.P Singh, IGP (Pers.) PHQ, Anand Jain, IGP (Hqrs.) PHQ, Aftab Kakroo, AIG (Pers.) PHQ, Sameer Rekhi, AIG (Trg.) PHQ, Kulbir Singh, AIG (CIV) PHQ, Rashid Mustafa, SE PHQ, Manoj Pandit, AIG (Comm.) PHQ, M. Nasir Khan, Sr. ADO PHQ and other Gazetted / Non-Gazetted officers.
Two minutes silence was observed and the officers present in the meeting prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

Speaking on the occasion Special DG termed the sudden demise of Samuel as a great loss to the J&K Police. He expressed his deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. He said that the officer had served the State and the GoI with great dedication and devotion.

IGP (Hqrs.) Anand Jain (IPS 1999), who is the batchmate of the deceased, recalled his association with Late Samuel and described him as a very capable officer who showed his mettle in State as well as in the Centre.

On behalf of all ranks of J&K Police, Anand Jain would be attending the last rites of Samuel.
