Mammoth Indian Flag hoisted in Belagavi

Belagavi, Mar 12 : One of the largest National flag was hoisted by District incharge and Cooperative Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi in this border city of Karnataka on Monday.

The flag measuring 120 feet by 80 feet was unveiled at Belagavi Urban Development Authority (BUDA) office premises on the bank of fort lake that was witnessed by large number of people.

The National flag was tied to a 110 meter high mast pole said Belagavi City North MLA Firoz Sait who had conceived the concept. The total cost of the pole and the flag was Rs.1.63 crore he said.

The weight of the pole is 36 tonnes while the Denier Polyster cloth flag weighs 500 kg.

After the inauguration Mr Jarkiholi said the high flying flag will generate National spirit among the people of the city and the visitors.

Religious Leaders, large number of people and school children witnessed to the Monumental flag hoisting.

Deputy Commissioner Ziaulla, Police Commissioner D C Rajappa, DCP (L&O) Seema Latkar, Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) Commissioner Shashidhar Kurera, ZP CEO Ramachandran, ZP President Asha P Ihole, Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Center (MLIRC) Brigadier Govind Kalawad, Cantonment CEO Diyya Shivaraman and others were present.
