Srinagar, Jan 18 : Traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway was disrupted on Thursday to protest unscheduled and frequent power cuts in south Kashmir district of Anantnag.

Hundreds of people, including women and children, took to the streets and blocked the national highway at Bijbehara in Anantnag at 1120 hrs, against erratic power supply in their areas.

''We have been facing difficulties due to erratic power supply from last couple of months.

The government knows that stable power supply is must for the people during harsh winter months, but unfortunately nothing is being done to address our problem,'' a protester said.

Hundreds of vehicles were stranded on both sides of the highway as protesters were not allowing any vehicle, including those belonging to security forces to pass.
