Security vehicle hits, injures minor

JAMMU: In a strange set of events, a minor school boy was hit by a security vehicle on the outskirts of Jammu; however, while sources have said that vehicle was an escort vehicle of former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah, the victim's family has refused to confirm the same.
A security vehicle reportedly part of a cavalcade escorting former chief minister Farooq Abdullah, hit a school boy and injured him on Friday on the outskirts of the city, a senior police official said, while refusing to confirm it.
"A security vehicle moving ahead of the former chief minister's cavalcade hit a boy in Bajalta area and caused minor injuries to him," the official said.
"We are verifying whether the vehicle was part of the cavalcade of the former chief minister," he said.
The injured has been identified as Yaseen, son of Mohammad Rafiq, resident of Bajalata, and was hit in his leg.
Nine-year-old Yaseen was admitted to a hospital after the incident and his condition was stable, he said.
Interestingly, Farooq Abdullah was in the same are on Friday noon where he visited the residence of Martyr Sohanlal Bhagat at Sarah Pargalta in Panchayat Bajalta.
