AK-47 cartridge creates panic, alert in Jammu

JAMMU: Panic gripped the city of temples on Monday after a loaded magazine of AK 47 rifle was found abandoned in a Janipur-bound minibus. With no policeman coming forward with report of having lost his rifle's cartridge, the police sounded an alert later in the day.
As per reports, the abandoned AK-Magazine was noticed by some passengers aboard the said matador, who then informed the concerned Police Station, Janipur.
"Acting swiftly the Police took the magazine under its custody and flashed the message to Police Control Room and District Police Line (DPL) suspecting that the magazine might belong to a cop who incidentally in a minibus, police sources said.
They said when concerned police didn't get any response from the message, the police in fact took to its heels and took due cognizance in this regard, sounding an alert in the city.
"We have not received any information about the cop who was supposedly got this 'ammo' issued against his name", said a police officer on anonymity, further adding that the detailed investigations are on in this regard. A case stands registered in this regard at concerned police station, a spokesperson said.
